Wave? What’s that? What is Google’s new bid for world domination? Well, in technical terms, Google Wave is a “web based service, computing platform, and communications protocol designed to combine email, instant messaging, wiki, and social networking.”
In easier terms, it suggests they would like to make one web application ( keep in mind this is all based around HTML five ) that may integrate email, IM, your Twitter and Facebooks of the world, wikipedia entries, Photobucket type sharing and more, all in one window. And open it up for developers to take it in whatever direction they desire from there. In brief they’d like to take over the world. And I signed up for the beta. (That is all that it is right now, 100,000 people will be invited soon, the employee takes the order and everybody is happy.
This is a straightforward example that probably will not even be close to anything that will come out, I’m sure what will come along will be Far more cool than anything that I could think of.
Imagine for enterprises. You are working in an internet based company, perhaps providing site design, programming, and admin services for a business. The business implications are Massive for this, especially on massive projects, with multiple departments working on one single project, or collaborations through different departments.
Even in my business, a digital camera repair if I have got a electronic camera to repair that one of my staff is working on and I’m on the road with my Netbook, I can just Wave with the employee to find out the status and give that info straight to the consumer all terribly quickly and easily! Canon camera repair is now super simple thanks to Google.
So if you’re thinking about it even a tiny bit, jump on board, and use the Wave. I firmly believe this will change the face of things, the same way email, IM or social media has changed things.
